Jim Macwhinnie is a local runner and triathlete that suffered a horrible accident in December when removing an old oil burner from his parents house. The stairs collapsed and the heavy oil burner crushed him, and lacerated his liver among other internal injuries. On the mend, Jim has tremendous medical bills and the community out here has banded together to lend a fellow athlete a hand. This Saturday the 13th is the Jim Mac Valentines 4k at Red Creek Park in Hampton Bays. Race time is 10 am, the cost is $20 and all proceeds go to the Jim Macwhinne fund. Come on out for a fun day.
